New Beginnings

School is over. Graduation was on Friday, and I proudly led my line of ALL BOYS through the ceremony. I’m so proud of my kids, and while I’m so happy to see them move on to bigger and better things, I’ll also admit to a little sadness over the fact that they’re all grown up and don’t need me anymore. It’s the parenting part of my job that I love the most, but it’s also the most difficult part to handle.

Here is a picture of my boys backstage before the big event. Don’t they look sharp in their gowns and ties? I was so proud!

Ben and I have been talking since I last posted and have made more decisions about where we want to go from here. We think our lives will look very differently by the end of the summer! Here’s to making positive changes.

Let’s talk about what we’ve been up to for the last few weeks.

  • We have a new fence in our back yard! The last one was probably put up when our house was built…in 1997! It was sketchy – pickets falling out in high winds, etc. We allotted an hour or so to tear it down, but instead, it took about 20 minutes. We even got out the large posts by hand – they literally snapped off when we pulled on them. Anyway, the new fence is beautiful and makes me feel very safe indeed.
  • Our new granite counter tops are gorgeous!
  • My friend Claire got engaged a couple of weekends ago and we got to help her fiance propose! You can read all about it over on her blog.
  • We are officially looking for a new church – a task that is never fun, but always full of possibilities.
  • We have decided to take a trip in July, but need to figure out where.

I’m on my second day of vacation and already feeling more rested than I’ve felt in months. I’m excited about the changes coming our way and looking forward to starting fresh in some areas. Life is good!

Not that this has anything to do with your summer plans, but in answer to your question on my blog, there are a few possible answers to your question.

1.) I always kept you distracted by being unnecessarily rude to Lauren.

2.) You were too busy dodging molded pepper steaks.

3.) You were too busy looking for your cardboard cutout of the lead singer of Delerious.

4.) I made the whole story up for the sake of a blog that only 5 people (at most) read.
